19-year-old man arrested in shooting outside Chandler Fashion Center Monday


CHANDLER, AZ  — Chandler police say a 19-year-old has been arrested following a shooting outside a Harkins Theater and auto center near Chandler Fashion Center Monday evening.

Officials say Nathaniel Anthony Vensor fired thirty rounds from an AR-15 assault rifle into the air.

Police reportedly found the discharged shell casings in the southwest parking lot of the mall.

Following the incident, officials said there was no active shooter and no victims were located.

According to video surveillance, the alleged suspects left the area before officials arrived.

On Tuesday morning, officials were called back to the mall for reports that Vensor was shopping inside the mall.

Vensor was arrested just after 11 a.m., officials say he was unarmed and was wearing the same baseball hat he purchased at the mall before the shooting.

Vensor was booked into the Maricopa County Jail and faces one count of armed robbery, one count of aggravated assault, one count of possession of a weapon by prohibited possessor and thirty counts of unlawful discharge of a firearm.

He was also found in possession of a narcotic drug during his arrest.
